- Headed north on 16
- Walked through site of ancient Maori fort
- Passed nice potential camp spot 1km south of Kaukapakapa
- Walked to lookout on Mt. Auckland (off 16 North) from Kaipara Hills Rd (3.5 hrs return) - mostly bush, nice view on top
- Camped @ Pahi Beach Motor Camp (NZ$18 + $3 laundry) off 12 West - great kitchen/TV room - huge fig tree!
